MLB The Show 18 Yankees Franchise: NYY @ TOR 3/30/18

Hello, viewer, this franchise was started on MLB The Show 18 and it’s going to be a carryover franchise for all future MLB The Show games. One of the biggest things that separates this franchise from the rest is ultra-realistic 30 team major league AND minor league control. I use Ridindwnkingsley’s OSFM rosters, which feature all of the real life prospects that have yet to play in the majors and thus are not in the game’s default rosters. I took almost a week going through all 90 teams’ rosters, lineups, and rotations to ensure the most authentic experience possible. For example, you will not see Jo Adell or Royce Lewis in AAA until they earn it (in the original OSFM rosters, guys like them are in AAA at 18 years old, which is very unrealistic.) Whenever a player goes down with an injury or a player is lighting up their minor league, these are taken note of and manual call ups and send downs occur at the beginning of every month of the season. Injury call ups are entirely based on whether the injured player was a starter or backup and that determines the quality player that will receive the call to fill in for the injured player.

I use Armor & Sword’s Hall of Fame slider set which includes realistic trade slider values depending on the month of the season to mirror the real MLB as much as possible in terms of trade frequency around the league. Any CPU-CPU trade is monitored closely and only the trades that would happen in real life will occur in the game. My analysis of all trades comes loosely from the player surplus value formula from Bard’s realistic trade thread on Operation Sports.

For gameplay, I don’t have to change a lot of my natural play style in the name of not cheesing the CPU as it is very hard to do so in a baseball video game compared to the other sports. One thing I do to keep the games looking as authentic as possible is play with the cleanest screen possible. For example, the only artificial video game created displays you will see are the baserunner window and the catcher’s mitt used to help locate pitches. Other than that, the games will look just like a real life broadcast. Another measure taken to create an authentic experience is that I took the time to add real life walk up music and stadium sounds for every MLB team as well as real life broadcast packages for Themes 1 and 2 for all 30 teams.

Videos will be in the form of condensed games for all 162 games in the season. Full games will be streamed live on Twitch irregularly, so be sure to have notifications on there if you’re interested in seeing entire games. I will be posting monthly updates from my franchise on Operation Sports at the link I’ve posted at the end of this description. I will be posting league standings, key injuries, important transactions, & a full minor league report of the Top 50 prospects around the minors. Speaking of the minors, I will also be playing one game per month with each of my minor league teams in game (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre & Trenton). I hope you will enjoy watching this series as much as I’m having fun creating it. Let me know what you think and enjoy!
