Meghan Markle's age makes her perfect bride for 'supplicant' Harry

Meghan's age and divorcĂ©e status will equip her for the 'tough' reality of life at Kensington Palace, according to royal biographer Richard Kay.The commentator says 36-year-old's Meghan's confidence and maturity will give her a 'good shot' at being a royal bride, where her predecessors have struggled.Speaking on new documentary Harry & Meghan: A Very Modern Romance, Kay explained how Diana and Fergie - who married into 'The Firm' aged just 20 and 26 respectively - found it difficult to cope with the pressures of royal life.'Over the years, others have married into the royal family - think of Diana Spencer, Sarah Ferguson - and they couldn't cope with it,' he said.'They found the expectation too high, too hard.'Meghan is that much older, much more confident and more experienced and I think that gives her a very good chance of making a good shot at this.’ The documentary, which premieres in the UK on 12 May, explores aspects of Meghan's background that have helped equip her for such an 'adventurous' marriage, producers said. And according to Meghan's biographer Andrew Morton, Harry - who will tie the knot with the California-born former actress at Windsor Castle on May 19 - knows exactly how lucky he is.Speaking on the True Entertainment documentary, he said: ‘I think Harry is self-aware enough to be the supplicant.'He is the one who is desperate for somebody to say "I will" because he knows how difficult it is moving into this family.Everyone talks about the glamour of it, but it ain't that glamorous.' Describing the couple's romance as a 'postmodern fairytale', he added: 'Make no mistake about it, Meghan's going to find it tough.'Every new arrival into the royal family has found it tough, obviously most notably Diana but also Fergie, Sophie Rhys-Jones, none of them found it particularly easy.’ Meanwhile, Mail on Sunday's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl suggests Meghan's 'seismic' decision to give up her glittering career for life within the confines of Kensington Palace serves as proof that their romance is 'the real deal'.'She's given up her home, she's given up her career, she's given up everything really, to move to the UK to become a member of the royal family,' the author said.'She's given up her private life, which is just a huge thing for anyone to have to do.You don't do that without really knowing that this is the real deal.'Her life as a royal is going to be very different from her life as a Hollywood actress.’ The UK premiere of Harry & Meghan: A Very Modern Romance airs Saturday, 12th May at 6:00pm on True Entertainment (Freeview 61, Sky 182, Freesat 142, Virgin 189).
