The Houston Astros relief pitcher served up a three-run go-ahead home run to Gary Sanchez in the top of the ninth inning, and was responsible for all four earned runs during the inning, as the New York Yankees prevailed, 4-0, at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday night.
Giles' self-destruction was capped by what appeared to be a rather violent punch to his own face after being pulled from the game after only getting one batter out in the ninth. The effort squandered what was a tremendous pitching performance for Justin Verlander, who struck out 14 over eight innings of work (Giancarlo Stanton accounted for three of those Ks, in case you were wondering).
